Wellness Program
At the Animal Medical Center we promote a program of total animal health and wellness. This means that we are trying to lead our clients away from the reactive treatment that is a result of disease and help our patients stop the life-shortening diseases that are realized too late in life. The solution is to provide yearly examinations and blood testing on all animals over five years of age. In an examination, the doctor can assess the physical health of an animal; however, this is not the whole picture. There is a wealth of information that can be gathered from a simple blood profile. Providing annual vaccinations in addition to these examinations can significantly increase the chances of early detection of disease, and therefore increase the possibility of successful treatment of these maladies.
Dental Hygiene
Dental Hygiene is a major concern for us in our lives. If we do not care for our mouths, they become infected and have diseases such as cavities and gingivitis. Imagine if we brushed only once a month, or never ?!? How badly would our mouths smell? Very bad! And when we get a cavity, or fracture a tooth, we go to the dentist that day. Now let's look at Fido's mouth, looks pretty bad right? On average, 85% of animals over age four have some form of periodontal disease. This is the most common type of disease in an animal's mouth, and the most painful in ours. There is, however, a solution. The solution is a yearly dental exam, relax, these are free. The dental exam is with one of our dental technicians who can explain the risks and problems associated with a neglected mouth. After the exam, the technician will make a recommendation based on the findings and a number of other factors that will affect your pet's health. The recommendations may range from the simple brushing at home to a professional dental cleaning followed by aggressive in-house treatment. We also offer a dental Radiology unit to provide the most effective and best medicine possible. For additional information on dentistry please see the FAQ section. To expedite your service on the day of your dental cleaning, please print and complete the dental form before coming in. If you have any questions, please call us or come in and we'll be happy to answer them.
Radiology
From time to time it becomes necessary to see a picture of the inside of an animal. This could be for any number of reasons, a possible broken bone, a foreign object in the stomach, labored breathing, etc. For this purpose, we feature a fully functional radiology laboratory. This procedure is an invaluable diagnostic to any quality veterinary practice to immediately assess a situation. We are now offering a dental radiology unit that is a state of the art diagnostic and an essential tool to any office serious about the quality of dentistry preformed.
Surgery
We offer a full range of surgical procedures on just about any animal. Our motto: “If it fits in our clinic, we'll do it!” If you are bringing an animal in for a surgical procedure, please drop off between 8:00 to 9:00 am , and leave a few minutes to do some pre-surgical paperwork. (The papers are located here if you wish to print them out and bring them in completed to speed up the drop off process.) To expedite your drop-off on the morning of any surgical procedure, please print and complete the pre-surgical form and bring it with you on the day of the surgery. If you have any questions, please call us or ask us when you drop off.
Laser Surgery
Lasers have been used for many years in human medicine, in the last ten years veterinary medicine has found many good applications for the laser. The advantage of using a laser for a surgery is that there is much less, if any, bleeding from the surgery. The laser also seals and disengages nerves, resulting in a much less painful surgery and a faster recovery. The laser can be used in almost any surgical procedure to help your animal be back to normal faster than ever possible before.
Sevoflurane
Any anesthetic agent carries some risk. However, the advancing market in veterinary medicine has afforded us many technological upgrades that allow us to minimize the risks associated with anesthetic procedures. Sevoflurane is one of the recent technological gifts that we have been able to offer for over two years now. The positive factor that Sevoflurane offers us is that we can control the gas more effectively and more quickly to afford a safer experience for your pet.
